On the 1st August 2022 SACAA implemented an SSL certificate (https) on the card licensing portal to further increase security on the Portal. Due to this implementation all cards printed before 1st August 2022 point to the old URL: http://personellicensing.caa.co.za/CAALicense/caaLicense?lno=000000. To ensure that you are able to view the license details of the card holder follow the below steps:
- Scan the card on the QR code
- Once the URL: http://personellicensing.caa.co.za/CAALicense/caaLicense?lno=000000 comes up.
- Add s next to the http to make it https and then press enter/submit and then you will be redirected to the correct URL: https://personellicensing.caa.co.za/CAALicense/caaLicense?lno=000000

- Go to SACAA website: www.caa.co.za
- Click on E-services
- Click on PEL: Licensing Details
- On the URL add your license number without 027 https://personellicensing.caa.co.za/CAALicense/caaLicense?lno=

You may access the portal via the link below. Licence holders have to enter their licence numbers and will receive a request for the OTP, the same as when scanning the card. 027 should be left out of the licence number.

Steps on how to access your card information using the link:
- Copy the link and paste it on your web search bar.
- Edit the link at the end with your license number (excluding the 027) and search. E.g https://personellicensing.caa.co.za/CAALicense/caaLicense?lno=12345
- Insert the OTP that had been sent to you via SMS.
- On the menu page select Flight crew licensing.
- At the bottom of your screen select the applicable license.
- Select Download so that you can view all your license details in a PDF format.
The card come with a 2D bar code on the back of the card which will store all the information regarding the licence, you will have to scan through the bar code using app PDF 417 or any other QR code scanner available on Play Store to read the full information of the licence.
The process and Regulation remain unchanged, the only difference is that you will be receiving a card as oppose to a booklet and a passport size photo have to be submitted. If the photo is submitted electronically, the photo have to be of a high resolution.
The card come with a 2D bar code on the back of the card which will store all the information regarding the licence, you will have to scan through the bar code using app PDF 417 or any other QR scanner available on Play Store to read the full information of the licence.
The turnaround time will remain the same for now but will gradually improve with time.
By scanning the barcode on the back of the card through the bar code, you will be able to access the medical expiry date.
The roll out will be done in phases, Information is available on our website and other social media platforms.
Nothing changed in terms of the requirements as stipulated in the Regulation.
The Card Licence verification system will have a redundancy site that allows for the licence holders information to be verified even when the production environment is down at the head office.
Absolutely, the card is compliant with ICAO Standards and it is recognised globally.
The card has safety features and if it is fake, the bar code scanned won't give you the correct information.
A card will not be re-printed unless requested by the holder, due to deterioration, adding of a new category and in the case of lost or stolen.
As soon as all the categories of licences have been rolled out and the current paper-based licences have expired.
Card licences will be issued for each of the following licence groupings:
- AME and RMT
- ATS
- NPL,CC,ICAO Annex 1 FCL licenses including SPLIC
- SPL & RPC licences will still be issued on a A4 paper.
As soon as the card licence has commenced, the paper-based licence will be discontinued. The client may continue with the paper-based licence as long as it is still current.
You can check the information by scanning the barcode on the back of the card within 5 to 10 working days of submission of your compliant application.
