The Air Traffic Services (ATS) section is responsible for the certification and safety oversight of ATS and its personnel at various Air Traffic Service Units (ATSUs) nationwide.
Learn MoreThe Air Traffic Services (ATS) section is responsible for the certification and safety oversight of ATS and its personnel at various Air Traffic Service Units (ATSUs) nationwide. This oversight is conducted in accordance with Part 172, Part 140 and Part 65 of the Civil Aviation Regulations, along with the associated Technical Standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Certification of ATSUs
- Safety oversight
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.
- Safety Monitoring
- Continuous monitoring and safety data analysis.
- Investigation of ATS related incidents
- Review of safety investigation reports
- Monitoring the implementation of safety management systems (SMS)
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaboration with ANSPs and other stakeholders to address operational concerns and improve service delivery.
- Participation in national, regional and international aviation forums and work groups.
National Airspace Committee (NASCOM)
The ATS section also hosts the National Airspace Committee (NASCOM) which reviews and makes recommendations to the Director of Civil Aviation regarding airspace modifications and enhancements aimed at improving safety and efficiency for the entire aviation community in accordance with Part 11 of the Civil Aviation Regulations. This includes considering factors such as airspace efficiency, airspace complexity, and the needs of various airspace users.
