About Air Safety Operations
The primary function
of the Air Safety Operations Division is to ensure regulatory compliance and
safety oversight of all Air Operators, Aviation Training Organizations,
Designated Flight Examiners (Pilots), Designated Aviation Medical Examiners,
Designated Examiners (Cabin Crew), Aircraft Maintenance Engineers.
This Division is also
responsible for the Maintenance of Examinations, Testing Standards, and
Aviation Medical Standards for South African Aviation Personnel and ensures
regulatory compliance to these standards.
The Mandate of the
ASO Division is to Issue Certificates to Air Operators (AO’s) and Aviation
Training Organizations (ATO’s) who are compliant with the SA Civil Aviation
Regulations and to ensure that Non compliances are addressed and appropriate
correct actions are taken. This Division is responsible for carrying out a
variety of safety oversight activities within the Civil Aviation industry.
Within the division there are four departments which each has a specific
function to perform.
Anton Richman is the
General Manager of the Air Safety Operations Division and he reports directly
to the Acting Director of Civil Aviation Mr. Zakhele Thwala.
