Procedures
for Aviation Training Organization and designation of Cabin Crew Instructors
and examiners related to Safety and Emergency Procedures (SEP)
1. For an initial aviation training organization
application, the following training material must be submitted:
1. Training schedule (including dates and names of
operators training are provided for)
2. Description of training facilities and equipment
3. Lesson plans for initial, annual, refresher and type
and difference training
4. Training manuals
5. Training slides
6. Training workbooks and or handbooks
7. Examination knowledge questions and answers,
including practical assessments
8. Evaluation skills test forms
9. Drill cards
10. Final assessment of facilities to be conducted by the
Authority
i)
To the commissioner,
ii)
At least 60 days immediately preceding the date on which the approval
expires
The application must be accompanied
by:
iii) Proof of accreditation
iv)
Appropriate fee as prescribed in Part 187
B. INITIAL
APPLICATION AS A SEPT DESIGNATED EXAMINER
1. Application for an SEP Designated Examiner must be
accompanied by the following documentation:
1. Application form
2. Copy of the operator certificate if applicant plans
to provide in-house training
3. Proof of approval as an Aviation Training
Organization/ATO (with specific approval for cabin crew safety and emergency
training) if applicant plans to provide training to cabin crew not employed by
their own organization
4. Curriculum vitae and certified copies of relevant
training
Minimum
requirements/qualification for designated examiners are the following
v
Subject matter
expect (SME) as approved by the CAA
v
In possession of
Instructors Rating issued by the Civil Aviation Authority
v
In the instance
the licence has been invalid for a period not exceeding 36 months, the
candidate shall be subject to review by the CAA to determine if the candidate
has retained the necessary knowledge and skill to fulfill the responsibilities
of a DE.
v
Be a holder of a
cabin crew licence.
5. Pay relevant fees
6. Training material, including the following:
1. Training schedule (including dates and names of
operators training are provided for
2. Description of training of training facilities
3. Lesson plans for initial, annual, refresher and type
and difference training
4. Training manuals
5. Training workbooks and/or handbooks
6. Examination knowledge question papers and answers,
including practical assessments.
7. Evaluations Skills tests form obtained from the CAA
licencing department.
The
designation as an SEP Cabin Crew Designated Examiner is valid for a period of
one year. Applicants are required to apply for renewal of designation at least
60 days preceding the date of expiry.
The
following information must be submitted for renewal purposes;

amendments to
training material, as applicable
(ii)
revised
examination knowledge questions and answers, including practical assessments
v
Proof of approval and renewal Aviation
Training Organization certificate.

Pay the relevant
fees as per Part 187
C.
INITIAL APPLICATION AS A SEP INSTRUCTOR
1. Application for SEPT Cabin Crew Instructor rating
must be reviewed by the operator for recommendation and the following
information must be forwarded to the CAA:
1. Original or certified proof of train –the- trainer
certificate
2. Original or certified proof that the applicant has
passed the theoretical knowledge examination referred to in Regulation 64.02.3
3. A copy of a detailed curriculum vitae and certified
copies of relevant qualifications
4. The skills test report as prescribed in Document
SA-CATS-FCL
5. The cabin crew licence, type rating limited to ten
valid aircrafts types, and
6. The appropriate fees as prescribed in Part 187
7. Instructor final evaluation to be conducted by the
Authority

The designation as a SEPT
Cabin Crew Instructor is valid for an indefinite period, provided that the
privileges of such a licence/certificate shall not be exercise by the holder
thereof unless the following is adhered to:
1. he or she is a holder of a valid class 2 medical
certificate issued in terms of Part 67;or
2. he or she undergoes recurrent training as prescribed
in Part 121 and/or
3. he or she does check flights once in six months in
the aircrafts that he or she rated on.
