AIC Regarding Foreign Medical Examinations

To date, the Licencing Department at the CAA has been accepting Medical Certificates issued by foreign doctors (outside SA).  This is unacceptable as it opens up the CAA to potential litigation.

As from 29 March 2004, all personnel holding a foreign medical certificate applying for licencing should adhere to the following procedure:

  1. Submit all the necessary documentation to the licencing department as per usual procedure.
  2. Submit the foreign medical certificate, together will the full medical records, to the medical department at the CAA.

No licences will be issued until all the records have been received and verified by the relevant departments.
