Flight Crew Training at Foreign Training Organisations

In terms of SA-CAR 61.01.16(1), 61.01.13 and 61.13.10 no training or testing for any South African licence, rating, revalidation, re-issue or maintenance of competency requirement may be carried out at any foreign training or type rating organisation (TRTO), or on any foreign Flight Simulation Training Device (FSTD), without prior written consent from the Director of Civil Aviation. In each case the applicant must contact the relevant section below, well in advance, who will then send the applicant a list of requirements.

· For approval of training for any licensing action (initial type rating, IF revalidation, etc.) the applicant must contact the Testing Standards Section of the SA-CAA.

· For approval for Operator Proficiency Checks the applicant must contact the relevant Flight Operations Section

· For approval of a foreign FSTD the applicant must contact the FSTD section of Flight Operations
