Preliminary statement on the Brits accident

 

CAA MEDIA STATEMENT

11 May 2007

 

A piper PA28-180 accident occurred in Brits on the 8 May 2007.  The accident was reported to the SACAA around 4pm.  The pilot was undertaking a solo training flight where upon he encountered problems while he was attempting touch-and-go landings.  The pilot was not injured in the event and there were no fatalities.  The nose of the aircraft and the right hand main gear collapsed and the right wing struck the ground.

 

The SACAA is investigating.
