ACSA Safety and Security Standards and Processes

Thursday30 October 2003

Due to the ongoing industrial action at the Airport Company (ACSA) airports, the CAA has, as a matter of standard practice been keeping an eye on the proceedings in light of safety and security.

The CAA recognises that the traveling public can rightly be anxious as to the state of safety and security in times such as this one. To this effect, today 30 October 2003, the CAA undertook a comprehensive security verification of operations at Johannesburg International Airport and will be doing the same for other airports.

We wish to ensure the public that the verification so far has not revealed any breakdown of security standards and processes. We have further verified the contingency measures deployed by ACSA, and have found them adequate to address the situation.
