The Judicial
Inquest into the deaths of the pilot and nine passengers in the crash of the Flightline Charter C.C flight from Rand Airport,
Johannesburg to Orangemund, Namibia, on December 6,
1999, was concluded in the Edenvale Magistrate Court.
The
magistrate, Mr. P.J. Du Plessis, postponed the matter and will deliver his
findings on Tuesday, May 14, 2002 at 9 am in the same court.
The Judicial
Inquest, which was conducted over sixteen days, heard the evidence of
witnesses, which amongst others includes the CAA investigator -in- charge, Dr.
Andre De Kock, the CEO of Flightline
Charter Services C.C, Mr. Miles Van Der Molen, Mr.
Vic Vickery from Placo - the Aircraft Maintenance
Organization that serviced the aircraft involved in this accident and Mr.
Declan McKinney, General Manager: Operations for Flightline
Charter Services C.C.
“The CAA is looking forward to the
findings of the Judicial Inquest, particularly with regards to any recommendation
that would benefit the prevention of occurrences of this nature in the future”
