The
Commissioner for Civil Aviation, Mr Trevor Abrahams,
on behalf of the Civil Aviation Authority, bids Brian Wilford, General Manager:
Aviation Safety and Promotion, a fond farewell following his resignation which
takes effect at the end of December.
"Brian
has a long career in aviation safety, going back to his time as a pilot with
the South African Air Force. The CAA was very lucky to have had his services
since the start of the CAA establishment, particularly with his experience in accident
prevention," Mr Abrahams said.
"The
safety and promotion unit was established in August of this year. Brian was the
natural appointment to head the unit. However, at that time he was considering
pursuing other interests, particularly with regard to flying, but he agreed to
set the unit up, noted Mr Abrahams.
"It
appears that the start of the new millennium is an appropriate time to start
new things. Brian will continue with his flying and therefore will be no
stranger to the CAA. We thank him for his effort and support in the CAA's first
fifteen month's of operation and we wish him all the
best in his new endeavours," Mr
Abrahams said.
The CAA and Mr Wilford will remain in close contact until such time as
a replacement is appointed. An advertisement for the position will appear in
national newspapers in the new year.
