Cabin Designated Examiner (CDE) and Cabin Instructor Conferences


  1. The SACAA will be hosting conferences for CDEs and for Cabin Crew Instructors as indicated below.
  2. The aim of these conferences is to update CDE's and Cabin Instructors on the requirements of Part 64 and to facilitate discussion that will lead to the adherence to and raising of training and testing standards.
  3. All CDEs and accredited cabin crew instructors and are required to attend one conference annually as part of their renewal requirement.
  4. Preference will be given to CDE's and Instructors when booking a conference, thereafter Training Managers and ATO owners will be accommodated, if there is space available.
  5. To enable the CAA to make suitable catering and venue arrangements, delegates must book at least 30 days in advance of the particular conference they wish to attend.
  6. Cancellations must be made at least one week prior to the booked conference.
  7. Note that each conference is limited to 40 seats. The applicant will be advised in case of over-booking.
  8. In case of over-booking, the office can be contacted in order to check for any cancellation.
  9. Conference bookings close 14 days prior to the date of the event.
  10. A name list of confirmed bookings will be published on this page 10 days prior to the event.
  11. A person who has not booked a seat or whose name does not appear on the list of published attendees for a conference will only be granted attendance of the conference under the following conditions:
  12. (a) If the conference venue can accommodate you in terms of seating and catering at short notice, and

    (b) If you pay the conference fee for your attendance directly to the conference centre, and

    (c) Show proof of payment of the fee to the Testing Standards Officer in attendance.

  13. A map with directions to the conference venue will be published 10 days prior to the conference on this page.
  14. Please check this page 10 days prior to the conference to check that the dates have not changed, that you are a confirmed attendee and that you are aware of the venue location.
  15. The SACAA retains the right to cancel a conference in the event of insufficient bookings.

Seating is limited to 25 people per conference.  Bookings will be confirmed on a first come-first served basis.

All cabin crew instructors and cabin designated examiners are required to attend one conference on the applicable date.

All details pertaining to the conference venues, maps and any other applicable information will be available at each of the links below approximately 10 days before the conferences.
